Local LLM tools: Ollama, LM Studio, Jan and Aider
Ollama, LM Studio and Jan download open models and run them on your own hardware. Aider is a coding assistant for the terminal that can use those local models. Running locally costs nothing beyond the hardware, and each of the four also sells, or connects to, hosted models for when a local one is too small.
