Stripe processes card and other online payments through an API, with separate products for subscriptions (Stripe Billing) and for calculating sales tax and VAT (Stripe Tax). Your business stays the seller, so tax registrations and filings remain yours.
Who it suits
Teams that want full control over checkout, pricing models and payment flows, and that can handle their own tax registrations.
Price
Fees depend on the country of the business. Stripe's pricing page for France lists 1.5% + €0.25 per standard European Economic Area card and 3.15% + €0.25 per international card, plus 2% when a currency is converted. Stripe Billing on pay as you go adds 0.7% of billing volume; Stripe Tax Basic with a no-code integration adds 0.5% per transaction where you are registered.
