What it does
Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record for software and digital products: it takes the payment, runs subscriptions and handles sales tax. Stripe bought it in July 2024, and in January 2026 Lemon Squeezy wrote that its goal is to give its users an easy way to move to Stripe Managed Payments, Stripe's own merchant-of-record product.
Who it suits
Small sellers of software and digital goods who want one fee to cover payments and tax. Given the move toward Stripe Managed Payments, check where it stands before starting a new project on it.
Price
5% + 50¢ per transaction. Transactions made outside the US may carry small additional fees.
